Couple of the month - February

Meet Manu & Andi

I met my now-husband a few years ago during a girls’ dinner with my friends. Manu was working security at a place in my town, and I cannot lie, it was love at first sight – at least for me  I was staring at him, and I could tell he was looking back too.

From that moment on, I somehow managed to drag my friends to that place every Friday after work… just to see him. Three whole months. Every week. No talking. Nothing.

At the time, I had been single for a long while, coming out of a nine-year relationship. I had never been with someone from outside my culture, so feeling so strongly attracted to this man was completely unexpected and honestly a little overwhelming.

Long story short, I finally asked one of my friends to tell him that I liked him, that I came every week just to see him, and that I was too shy to talk. He asked for my number, I gave it to him… and the rest is history.

The funniest part? He later told me that he had noticed me staring at him, but thought I was just another angry customer

Despite our different cultures, we have never faced real issues in our relationship. No long distance, no drama, just love, growth, and partnership. I truly love sharing my life with my Nigerian husband. I fell in love not only with him, but with Nigerian culture and religion too, and I am so happy to be raising our son with those values.

P.S. Being with a Nigerian man is not for the weak
